1.e4 Our Chess-Club is Open to All
Meeting Time: 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month
Location: Children’s Area OR Calloway Room
Time: 6:00pm-7:15pm
All Ages Welcome – Players of all skill levels and ages are encouraged to join. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian for the duration of play. We primarily focus our Chess discussions for children and beginners but more experienced adults/parents are encouraged to participate too.
Free and Open to the Public – No registration required.
Respect the Space – Please be courteous to others using the library.
Come When You Can – Arrive a few minutes early or late, or miss a few weeks? That is okay! We’re just happy to see you and we hope we capture your attention.
Respect Your Opponent – Shake hands before and after each match. You can be a grandmaster of good sportsmanship.
We Are Here to Learn & Have Fun – There are no blunders in our Chess Club, only opportunities to learn. We do not keep rankings.
Use Club Boards Carefully – Please treat all library chess equipment with care. Report any damage to our club instructor, Mr. Bob or to a librarian.
Time Controls – If both players agree, games may be timed. Otherwise, all our games are casual and untimed.
Respect Our Library Staff and Our Chess Instructor – We’re here to help! Please follow any instructions given.
How to Stay Updated – Any schedule changes (e.g., holiday closures) will be posted on the library’s website/calendar & our Facebook page. If you want weekly updates sent to your inbox please add your name to our Chess Club email list.
