Important Food Assistance Resources for Delaware Residents

The current federal government shutdown has resulted in a pause in the issuance of November 2025 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) food benefits. If you or someone you know is affected and needs help with food, please utilize the resources below. The State of Delaware and partnering organizations are working to support families during this unprecedented time.

Delaware 211 Helpline:

  • Dial 2-1-1 or 1-800-560-3372.
  • Text your ZIP code to 898-211.
  • This is the state’s central helpline for information on local food pantries, emergency food assistance, housing, medical care, and other health and human service resources.

Food Bank and Pantry Network

Food Bank of Delaware:

The Food Bank distributes food statewide through a network of partner pantries, soup kitchens, and mobile pantries.

Delaware State Service Centers

State Service Center Food Pantries:

Delaware State Service Centers offer various services, including on-site food pantries for emergency assistance. You can visit any center for help accessing services.

DHSS & Library Assistance

Delaware Division of Social Services (DSS) SNAP Alert:

Provides the latest official updates regarding the SNAP pause and other changes, along with a list of resources.

Tips for SNAP Recipients

  • Check Your EBT Balance: Any benefits already loaded onto your EBT card from October or previous months can still be used.
  • Keep Your Card: Keep your EBT card. Benefits do not expire unless the card is inactive for about nine months (274 days). You will need it when benefits resume.
