The Corbit-Calloway Memorial Library has 4 free spaces to use for the public.
Please call the library for more information on how to book, on accessibility, and on availability.

Delaware Room (Study Room):

  • Can be closed off
  • Has a fire place
  • Small space
  • Handicap accessible

Calloway Room (Meeting Room):

  • In the back of the library
  • In an open, non-closed off, medium space
  • Public may walk through during meeting
  • Handicap accessible

Children’s Room:

  • In the front of the library
  • In an open, non-closed off, medium space
  • Public may walk through during meeting
  • Handicap accessible

Basement: CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE

  • In an open, closed off, medium space (but has columns sporadically placed and has low ceilings)
  • NOT handicap accessible

Corbit-Calloway Memorial Library Study/Meeting Room Policy

Purpose

Our library study and meeting rooms are available to support research, group work, and community meetings. These spaces are made available on an equitable basis, in alignment with the principles outlined in the New Castle County Meeting Room Policy.

Use Guidelines

Availability

  • Study rooms are available during regular library operating hours.
  • Study rooms are offered on a first come, first served basis if not already booked.
  • If a room is vacant and not reserved at the time a patron requests it, the patron is entitled to use the room for up to two (2) hours, in accordance with New Castle County policy.

Reservations

  • Study rooms may be reserved in advance.
  • Reservations can be made up to four weeks in advance from the current date.
  • Reservations can be made by phone, or in person.

Extended Use

  • If a study room remains unreserved beyond a patron’s scheduled or two-hour first-come-first-served period, the patron may continue to use the room until another patron requests use.
  • Patrons may not monopolize rooms for the entire day unless continuous availability permits.

User Responsibility

  • Study room users are expected to respect the library environment.
  • Rooms must be left clean and free of trash or personal belongings after use.

Group Size and Room Capacity

  • Recommended maximum occupancy of the Delaware Room is 10 to 12 persons.
  • Recommended maximum occupancy of the Calloway Room is 15 to 20 persons.
  • Recommended maximum occupancy of the Children’s Room is 25 to 30 persons.

Prohibited Uses

  • Rooms may not be used for unauthorized group meetings or events.

Additional Information

  • Library staff reserve the right to manage room use and ensure fair access for all patrons.
  • Failure to comply with this policy may result in loss of study room privileges.
